Yes You Are Debut HGX Music Video

Yes You Are HGX

You might have heard this next track and not have known it. If you’ve seen a Pepsi MAX commercial between your TV obsessions, chances are you’ve heard the mysterious pop track from Yes You Are.

Between fans streaming, the Pepsi MAX commercial, during broadcasts like the Billboard Music Awards, Oscars and The Bachelor finale, the “HGX” has been heard thousands of times. While the track is still in heavy commercial rotation, it was featured in the hit movie Bad Moms.

“HGX” shows off Yes You Are’s ability to craft tunes that merge basic pop sensibility with a mystical tone. From a simple synth opening to a trumpet littered bridge, the groove from start to finish is nothing by catchy.

The music video is simple but looks anything but that. Taking place is what looks to be a hotel room, each musician is featured jamming to “HGX.” With quick paced jump cuts and trippy effects it makes the video interesting to watch again and again.

Kianna Alarid, the lead singer, is decked out in eyeliner that only she and Cleopatra could pull off. She dances around the hotel singing “we do it ‘cuz it feels good” over colorful effects in outfits that only someone who can pull off eyeliner that bold can rock.

The Kansas City-based five-piece were placed on the media’s radar with Alarid’s past with Tilly and the Wall. The critically-acclaimed indie band had toured with She and Him, Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley, Of Montreal and CSS, and played major festivals around the world such as Coachella, Japan’s Summersonic, Iceland Airwaves, Redding, Leeds and Australia’s Splendor In The Glass. Alarid’s indie group also performed on Late Night with David Letterman and Sesame Street.

Yes You Are was discovered shortly after their establishment by Tyler Glenn of Neon Trees. Not even a week later the band was invited to support Neon Trees on the US summer tour. Now continuing riding out their momentum, Yes You Are is excited to drop their first album.

Yes You Are are ready for a launch into the pop spotlight with the HGX music video.

The band will be playing the Buzz Beach Ball September 8 and 9 alongside Snoop Dogg, Weezer, Foster the People and more!
