Amy Loftus Spreads her Talents With “Sweetest Surrender”

We come across many talented artists in our perusal of the independent music universe. Many of these individuals have more than just musical talent. The artistic gene is strong here. We recently discovered Amy Loftus who checks off many of the Arts boxes in addition to being an accomplished singer and songwriter.

 

Originally hailing from Chicago, Amy Loftus was trained as an actress and dancer. She has done work as a voice-over, commercial, stage and screen actress. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and Painting from the University of Kansas, and is a certified yoga teacher and Podcast host. Truly a complete artistic package.

 

Even with all this talent, Amy Loftus considers singing and songwriting her true passion. Always one to dive in fully, Amy spent time in Nashville, Tennessee to focus on her songwriting. She toured with some well-established stars such as John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Christopher Cross before settling in Los Angeles to have the opportunity to share all her talents in one place.

 

Recently Amy Loftus released her 7th independent album Sweetest Surrender. The 10 track record is a beautifully done piece continuing her knack for pretty and memorable songs. Right from the opening title track “Sweetest Surrender” we get sucked in with elegant sounds paired with Amy’s strong and polished vocals.

 

 

We get treated to a darker side on “We Have It All” with its pumping beat getting the blood flowing. There is some angst here even as she sings of all she has and all she wants. Her musical range truly shows here. “Only Human” continues this darker vibe as Amy sings with an edge and a chip on her shoulder.

 

Amy Loftus Lets Us In With Real Catchy Emotion

 

The real emotion of “I Do” brings us back to a mellower place. The drums stay in the back of the mix allowing us to focus on the thoughtful lyrics of Amy Loftus. She has quite a way with words. The emotions continue on “The Heart is Way Behind.” There is a lovely atmospheric tone in the soundscape that brings the heart back to its resting pace.

 

For the closer “On The Inside” there is a folk-country vibe brought to the table. It is a welcoming song that leaves us with that warm cozy feeling that listening to a complete album is supposed to do. We, for one, are ready to hear more soon.
