Crowe – Ontario Band Flashes Back To Fuzzed Out 1970s Rock

There has been a nice revival as of late back to the straight up rock and roll of the 1970s.  It was a simpler time when many bands were just guitars, bass, and drums without any studio computers warping the live sound to something that sounded slick instead.  We came across a band today that is getting back to basics and is ready to share it with the world.  Let’s welcome Crowe.

Crowe live

The Ontario Canada based band was formed over a shared obsession for Fuzz pedals, beer, and playing loud rock n’ roll music.  This is four guys, Tim, Don, Stephen, and Sean, that are satisfied with melodic guitar, fuzzy bass, and straight ahead 4-count drum beats.  Their focus on keeping things simple has produced a sound that fits as well in the current music scene as it would in the music of 40 years ago.  The northern music mecca is starting to take notice as they have been playing legendary Toronto venues such as The Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace, and The Hard Rock Café.  Local radio loves Crowe too as they were selected as “Indie Band of the Month” on 102.1 the Edge.

Crowe is now in the process of putting together their debut album scheduled for release in mid-2013.  Indie Band Guru was able to get an advance listen to a few tracks set for the record.  The song ‘Satellite’ really draws hard from the 70’s fuzz rock of bands like T-Rex.  Strong yet mellow rock that grabs you while the vocals keep the listener calm.  The next song ‘Charms’ opens with an homage to Steppenwolf’s ‘Born To Be Wild’ setting up another straight up rock song but when you get to listen to the lyrics you hear that there are some stories to told by Crowe.  A good guitar solo brings back some memories of an earlier time here as well.  Proving that they can slow it down, Crowe offers ‘One Love’.  It is almost a ballad but still rocks hard enough to be a head bobbing listen.

From what we hear here, there is some strong promise coming from Burlington, Ontario.  Go get an advance listen to Crowe for yourself at:
