Start “Dancin” With Emily Bear’s Latest Single

Emily Bear has been expanding her arsenal of musical ability since she was very young. She’s a singer, songwriter, composer, and pianist, and released her first EP more than a decade ago, at the age of nine. Along the way, she’s been supported and encouraged by talk show host Ellen Degeneres, and appeared on Ellen recently to perform her new single “Dancin” for the first time.

On the single, Bear collaborates with big names in pop. The single was cowritten along with Bear by Neff-U and Jordan Powers, who have produced and cowritten for Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, and Sia.

On this track, Bear creates a strikingly distinctive portrait of her own style. She isn’t trampled by experienced contributors who seek to squeeze her into a marketable, cookie cutter box, but instead creates something fun and poppy but layered, with care taken to include the influence and experience that has shaped her sound.

Bear was first featured on Ellen as a piano prodigy at the age of five, and since then has composed not only her own music but music for the film Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. In her own albums, she’s established a diverse repertoire of classical piano, jazz, and pop.

On “Dancin,” Bear blends these elements seamlessly, creating something that is both fun and lighthearted, while also thoughtful and original. She maintains her individuality and still welcomes the influence of her collaborators, succeeding as well as any new pop star could hope to carve out her own space in a field studded with talent.
