Docfell & co share their ‘Frequencies and Vibrations’

As songwriters we must be willing to share our life experiences in song. But let’s face it, many of the best songs do not come from happy experiences. Those heartbreaks stir up emotion that spills into our music which connects to the listeners. Our friends Docfell & co returns from a short hiatus with an album filled to the brim with emotion.

The Tahlequah, Oklahoma based group has been at it since 2016. It has been an interesting ride both for the band and the personal life of lead songwriter Dr John Fell. After some needed time to deal with some heartache, the band is back to put that emotion into their music on their 5th album Frequencies and Vibrations. The 9 song Hank Early produced record definitely has a break up theme but getting that out there gives the hope of a fresh rebirth. It is set for release on Valentine’s Day February 14th 2025.

The tone is set right away with “Summer’s Gone,” a tale of romance come and gone. After a peppy Americana open the lyrics come in with a classic country drawl and the story of love and loss. There is a restart though with “Knock Me Over Moses” and its multiple melody technique of demanding multiple listens to absorb. An interesting dark/light dynamic with sounds that stretch the mind.

Enter ‘Texarcana’ with Doc Fell & co

The power of the female takes the stage on “Texarkana” with a steady beat that pushes the track forward. With lines line “she’s wild as a twister down in Texarkana, ain’t making no excuses for the damage she’s done, a trail of broken hearts and lord knows i’m one,” we know who is really in charge. A head bopping listen.

Doc Fell & co show off their obvious influence on “The John Prine Song.” It may be a change of pace from the rest of the album but the songwriting is top notch. Wavy guitar bringing the heavy country with the fun group lyrics putting a smile on all our faces.

The closer “The Death Of Me” has a fun and peppy pace with an attitude that it is what it is, may as well enjoy the ride. Toes will tap and heads will bob as you listen. Some fancy guitar work shows off the talent that Doc Fell has brought in. Just a darn good listen.

It seems now that Doc Fell and co are on the right path now and things are looking up for even more new music coming soon. Keep up at https://www.docfellmusic.com/
