iamCURBIE Proves That Steadfast Dedication Pays Off

As musicians we never know exactly how our career is going to develop. The key is to learn from every experience, constantly practice your craft, and just keep pushing forward. We were recently introduced to iamCURBIE who has lived this mantra to the fullest and is now ready to release his solo debut Better Late Than Forever.

The singer-songwriter hails from Ocean County, New Jersey where his journey started and continues. From randomly fooling around on a left behind guitar, iamCURBIE caught the bug and developed a passion for making music. After learning a bunch of cover songs, including a lot of Coheed and Cambria, he was determined to start a cover band to get out there and share his passions with an audience. His first group, Randyl Grayves Band (an homage to the NJ Cult Classic Movie Clerks), made these early dream a reality.

The music for continued for iamCURBIE (aka Curbie Ciamarra) through some more cover and original bands before finally deciding to branch out on the path of a solo career. There were some self-depreciating moments but finally he has something he is truly proud of with this debut album.

Passion and Devotion Pay Off For iamCURBIE

The 13 track record Better Late Than Forever was recorded at Bob Bowling Audio in Atco New Jersey. A real connection with the producer was made which is obvious upon first listen. The just over 1 minute opening intro title track sets a beautiful tone to welcome the listener in.

We are let into the mind of iamCURBIE with “Ego To Feed.” The acoustic guitar led song is punctuated with poignant personal lyrics that make any listener want to root for the devoted artist. The slow build of “Day Dreams” adds to the acoustic beauty with a relatively minimal guitar line allowing the focus to be on more heartfelt vocals.

The energy picks up on “Keep Moving” and “Hot Dogs” as iamCURBIE opens up more and strums his guitar with purpose.

A personal favorite song of mine is “159” as it dives into the real life experience of preparing to become a father. With 2 daughters myself, the lyrics were very relatable. iamCURBIE’s abilty to put this into song is something that not enough artists can do effectively.
