We all experience so much music in our lives. Those of us that open our minds to multiple genres get to experience so much more. The open minds allow us to take influence from a wider pool when it is time to create our own sound. Our new friend Alice Triskel is quite the example of this with her fully immersive sound.
We caught up with the innovative songwriter for a chat about her love for music and where her music is going. Enjoy it here:
First off, what is it that draws you to creating music?
For me music is everything. Creating music has become as vital as breathing, my way of feeling fulfilled, of expressing myself, of communicating, of living.
How would you describe the Alice Triskel sound?
The Alice Triskel sound is very difficult to describe in words since I mix everything I like and it has influenced me since I was a girl, it has a little bit of everything, depending on the theme.
Which artists have had the biggest influence on you?
My great influences have been international. I adored the energy and talent of artists like Freddy Mercury, Michael Jackson. Female voices with personality such as Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner or even Lady Gaga. I also loved it the sound of bands like Depeche Mode, Portishead, Massive Attack … I like very varied music.
How does a song come together for you? What is the songwriting process?
For me the creation is very simple since I have the producer at home. He composes songs and if I like them I add the lyrics and the melody. We usually connect well when composing songs.
Your newest single “The Game” seems to be full of energy. What can you tell us about the song?
It is my particular way of singing a love song. I decided to make a love song different from what we are used to. Because who said that a love song has to be a ballad?
What do you hope the listener will take away from your music?
I try to make listeners enjoy and feel the same as I do in different life situations. Joy, euphoria, sadness, anger …
Share some advice for other artists trying to build a presence around the world?
The advice I can give you from my humble experience is to do whatever you want, enjoy it, work hard, and never give up
