As a musician, you are not limited to only creating art in the sonic space. Most musicians are very creative people that have talents to share in other areas. Artists are artists! A recent discovery is lyricist and producer L.HUNT. He takes it to a new level by combining all his artistic works into one complete piece of art.
With the various works of L.HUNT he explores the relationships between music, written word, theatre production, and art in a non-traditional and personally unique way. This uniqueness is part of what makes him so special. He pours real emotion into his music to create a full experience for the listener to enjoy.
The sophmore project by L.HUNT (His previous being the 19 track rock opera Desert Rose) is quite an extensive one. He is putting together a 4-part rock opera about the human condition…. and madness. The title for part one is LifeWork: Passage One – The Question. There are many stimulating questions being asked by the music, the most obvious being “Why are we here?,” “Why are there anger and violence between people?,” “Why do we die?” Fitting themes for a concept album titled “The Question.”
The first single “Shadows and Echoes” is accompanied by an impressive music video to further complete the full experience of the art. The song is beautiful right from the start with Philip James Ockelford’s amazing guitar work and Ori Shlez laying down the synths. As the vocals come in we are treated to Syd Greene singing with real emotion – with a notable British accent.
The melody, written by Chris Davidson, reaches into the heart and mind of the listener to create feelings both sonically and emotionally. Of special note is the presence of vibraphone by Giovanni Perin, which is not usual for rock songs. But it works perfectly in this musical environment. And not to be left out is the steady groove served up by the drumming of Andrey Golodukhin. This group has something different about it that is hard to explain and even harder to write off. We want more.

Video producer/Actor Frank Rod crafted the video to go right along with these emotions. There are thoughts brought to mind with each image as we are drawn further into the experience. What is the reason for his madness? Why does he sit in a dark room staring at himself in the mirror? Who is the beautiful woman that leads him inside the mirror? Where is she taking him? Why does it matter?
The music is complex, the lyrics are intellectual. The music video is really a 5-minute short film. And it conjures up even more questions regarding the album storyline. Questions we want answers to! L.HUNT has promised to eventually explain it. I guess we’ll have to wait for the next single…
