Liberty Makes Her Mark With New Single “Tattoo”

The stigma around tattoos is changing from blurry connotations of gangs and prisons to conceptualized, precise art. Liberty Roche’s new single shares the same name and draws many similarities. This track was formulated through a distinct artistic process and has an equally long-lasting effect. With its dark synthwave sound, “Tattoo” stands out in your mind long after the last note fades.

An Early Start

At just 8 years old, Liberty wrote her first song to deal with her parents’ divorce. She and her five siblings grew up home-schooled in a close-knit community, so the familial split shook her. Over the next decade, she turned to music for comfort and self-expression. Her hard work has since caught the eyes and ears of vocal coach Remington Rafael, who produced her first two releases.

The 18-year-old Southern California singer/songwriter emulates fan favorites like Lorde, Lana Del Rey and Ke$ha with her deep, throaty vocals. Her music is gripped with an appealing darkness that listeners can fold themselves into as the days grow shorter in the coming months. Her previous single, “Guys My Age,” attracted the attention of Septien Entertainment Group, a Dallas-based creative boot camp at which music giants Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and Kacey Musgraves all attended.

Liberty Brings The Heat In “Tattoo” Video

Delving into “Tattoo,” Liberty mirrors the moody aesthetic in her video. The bright neon flashing throughout each scene bodes well with the light synth that serves as the backdrop to her melancholic vocals. It’s hard to believe she’s only 18 as her baleful eyes penetrate the camera – it feels as though she’s looking right at you.

While the track hints at the uncertainty of new beginnings, Liberty seems to know exactly what she’s doing on-screen. The video emanates a sense of professionalism and polish with a multitude of cut scenes to match the complexity of Liberty’s emotions. It’s clear she doesn’t let her age discourage her from pursuing her dreams. This starlet isn’t “wasting her time” on the criticism of others but forging ahead with determination.
