“Life As We Know It” has certainly changed over the last few weeks, but what hasn’t changed is the tenacity that Rob Alexander has as an artist. Physician anesthesiologist by day, Rob Alexander is a man of many talents. Despite his profession, his passions have always lied within music. Singing and writing songs most of his adult-life, Rob has spent years on fine-tuning his craft and solidifying who he is as an adult contemporary artist. Immensely inspired by legends like Elton John and George Michael, Rob pairs his unique flair with the sounds of those who have inspired him.
The end of 2019 saw the release of Being Myself for Rob Alexander, an album that bears his heart and soul. Working with three different members of Elton John’s band to create various songs on the album, Rob went above and beyond to make Being Myself something special. The first two singles from the album, “Friend of Mine” and “Never Gonna Let You Go” even gained attention from iHeart Radio, placing them on their podcast in late-January.
The successes of the first two singles paved the way for “Life As We Know It,” the third hit off of Being Myself. Despite his deep-seeded connections to Elton John, “Life As We Know It” is modern and unique to Rob. There’s no doubt that Rob Alexander will entice Elton John fans, but he’s so much more than that and this single proves it. Keys blaring high and proud over top of the infectious melody, it’s easy to get swept up in “Life As We Know It.” And while I could have used some increased emphasis on those great drum patterns, it’s hard to find critique in these very catchy instrumentals.
Not only are the instrumentals captivating and uplifting, but the lyrical content of “Life As We Know It” is equally as inspiring. Much as Rob has pursued his passions within music, this single urges listeners to chase their dreams and to enjoy every day as they come. And with the current global state looking more and more bleak, “Life As We Know It” is the pick-me-up the universe needs right now.
