Markoff Lazzara and Franzetti Are Yours ‘By Request’

There will always be something special about hearing a song that you know. Even better when it is in a different style. You can feel the melody bouncing around your brain searching for the song title. Our friends Steve Markoff and Patricia Lazzara have provided us with these musical memories over and over again.

A true musical fate had brought them together to turn some of the most iconic songs into softened flute-led masterpieces. The connection was strong and the time Steve Markoff and Patricia Lazzara spent practicing together truly paid off in their skill. To further the sound they combined with the talented pianist Allison Brewster Franzetti. With a complete sound complete, songs started coming faster and faster.

After a long string of singles, the group is now ready to put them all together onto a complete album of beautiful music titled By Request. The 15 track record just released on June 21st, will conjure up fantastic memories of songs past. Songs you know and love delivered in a fresh way. From the opening Beatles classic “Let it Be” to the synth pop staple “Take On Me” by A-ha, a wide spectrum of genres are covered.

The classical touch to songs that rarely had that experience makes for truly pretty music. “(I Just) Died In Your Arms” is one that stands out to me as a track I know and love the original way but this take is exhilarating in a completely different way. Flute takes on a whole new meaning to me here.

You will surely know most of the songs on By Request. Do yourself a favor and make sure to give some time to more of my personal favorites, “Nights In White Satin,” Don’t Dream It’s Over,” and “Tears In Heaven.” I am not sure if this is insulting but if these songs were playing in an elevator, I would not mind taking the local to the top of the Empire State Building!

Keep up with Steve, Patricia, and Allison Here
