“Get Lost!” With Mercy Land in Their Dark Synth Dreamscape

Spread the knowledge

Not all summer songs have to be bright and cheerful. Some of the best summer bangers have a dark thread running through them. Our recent discovery Mercy Land is ready to take charge of your dark summer with a brand new single.

The duo of Laura Jinn and Tatum Gale provide a darkwave/synthpop sound that lays it all out there with a mischievous wink and a story to tell. Fresh off their indietronica debut “Kid A,” Mercy Land just dropped their sophomore single “Get Lost!” via Feature Bug Studios.

The track is a bold leap into a techno-noir wonderland, blending progressive house beats with a theatrical, almost cinematic narrative. It’s a raucous, creepy bop that invites you to dance through a twisted tale of fickle romance and digital-age debauchery. Mercy Land is ready to carve out a deliciously unique corner of the dark indie scene.

Right from the jump, we are ordered to ‘party and have a good time tonight.’ The song quickly hooks you with its pulsating four-on-the-floor rhythm and synthetic percussion that thumps like a heartbeat in some neon-lit underworld. The sequenced bassline and glitchy synths build a soundscape that fully fills the speakers. “It’s”Get Lost!” is both club-ready and eerily theatrical, like a mash-up of Crystal Castles and a David Lynch fever dream.

Laura Jinn’s vocals slink through a second-person narrative, dripping with accusation—“You’re a tease!” she sneers, pulling you into a story that’s equal parts seductive and unsettling. Tatum Gale, the self-styled “internet cowboy jacked up on creatine,” answers back with formant-shifted vocals that ooze with a dark charisma that you know you shouldn’t trust, but always fall for.

Compared to the 2000s-alt-sleaze vibes of “Kid A,” “Get Lost!” feels more expansive, leaning into progressive house while keeping Mercy Land’s knack for catchy, off-kilter hooks. The production is slick yet raw, with every warped synth and percussive hit feeling purposeful. A mid-song breakdown strips things back a little letting the vocals float into your soul before the beat crashes back in. Prepare for a packed dance floor to explode.

The eccentricity of the track is an odd strength, making “Get Lost!” a song you’ll want to spin again to catch every lyrical jab and sonic twist and turn. We hear an accompanying music video is on the horizon as well directed by Virginia Walcott. It will be part of a larger visual narrative film for their Termites EP due this fall.

Use “Get Lost!” as a portal into Mercy Land’s warped, wonderful  and dark world. If you are looking for a dark, danceable anthem that’s as much a story as it is a vibe this track is a must-listen. Mercy Land may be onto something special here, and we’re ready to get lost in whatever they conjure up next.
