Michael Burrows Knows It Is Hard but ‘Please Don’t Cry’

Michael Burrows

Being a solo artist does not mean you have to be alone. In fact, you must be willing to work with others in order to expand your knowledge, make the right contacts, and generally get better. Our recent discovery Michael Burrows has been in the game a while and has some super talented friends.

The singer/songwriter hails from Melbourne, Australia where his music is really starting to get noticed. The Michael Burrows sound is an interesting fusion of folk, Americana, and indie rock that takes the singer-songwriter genre to new heights. Whether performing by himself with just a guitar or in a full band setting the music comes off very intimate and relatable.

In his travels, Michael Burrows has recorded with Neil Finn of Crowded House and supported Martha Wainwright on a run of her solo shows in Australia. Most recently he has been co-writing with Grammy-award winning artist Frank Myers in Nashville, Tennessee at the famed Ocean Way Studios. These sessions included working with producer Jimmy Nichols (former musical director for Faith Hill and Reba McEntire) and engineering/mixing by Steve Marcantonio, (another Grammy-award winner) whose credentials include John Lennon, J. Geils, George Strait, Alabama and more recently Thomas Rhett, Taylor Swift and Steven Tyler. The result is Michael Burrows upcoming EP Turn This Love Around.

The lead single off the album “Please Don’t Cry” is here along with a lyric video shot by pal Peter Leininger during a 30 minute Uber ride through Nashville. The simplistic beauty of the song hits you right away with the melodic guitar line. As the song builds, Michael’s romantic and real vocal style warms its way directly into your heart. This common man relatability shines through and makes it easy to see why Michael has built up so many great friendships. Damn, I want to hang out with him now.

We will be waiting not so patiently for the full EP to drop so we can hear the rest of what was recorded in Nashville. Keep tabs of Michael Burrows and get the first shot at more music and exclusives on his WEBSITE.
