How To Organize A Successful Concert On Your Own

52 percent of the US population attends some kind of live music event every year, indicating the fast growth of the live music business in America, according to the 2018 Music 360 Report by Nielsen Music. Concerts are a great way for music fans to discover new music and artists, interact with other fans, and see their favorite artists perform live.

For artists, concerts are a great way to promote their music, meet new and existing fans, and make money. If you have a band, you should always be looking for opportunities to hold concerts and live shows to promote your music, especially during the holidays when more people are looking for fun activities.

However, there’s always a good chance that people will not attend, especially if you’re a fairly new band. Luckily, there are many things you can do to get more people to attend your concert and have an unforgettable experience.

Choose the right venue

The first thing you need to do is to find a suitable venue for your concert. Depending on the number of people you are expecting and their location, the venue could be a stadium, a village hall, a wine bar, a room in a pub, or any other conveniently located space. Convenience is vital to encourage more people to attend, especially if you’re not well-known. The size of the venue is another important consideration; for example, a full room with 100 people will look much better than a half-full room with the same 100 people.

Have the necessary equipment

There’s a lot of equipment you need in order to organize a successful concert, from the musical instruments, to the audio equipment, to the stage. The first thing you should do is find out which equipment you will be required to provide for yourself. Most venues will not be able to provide everything you need.

One piece of equipment that you might have to rent yourself, especially if you’re holding the concert in an outdoor space that’s not specifically designed to hold concerts, is the stage itself. In such a case, you should ensure that the stage you end up setting up is safe, strong enough to support everything you plan to do during your show, and well-designed. Work with a reliable contractor with access to an aerial work platform so that everything can be put in place safely and securely, even at height.

Have the necessary permits

If you will be holding your concert in a concert hall or bar, the government won’t care much. However, if you’re planning to hold it in a public space, such as a park, you may have to obtain some permits. For example, if your concert is a ticketed event held at a local park, you’ll have to book first with the city, which means filling out some paperwork and paying a fee. If you fail to get the necessary permits, you risk getting kicked out of the space or having to pay hefty fines.

A concert should be a fun and rewarding experience, not only for you but also for the crowd. If you’re going to organize one, make sure that it’s one to remember.
