I’m not even going to ask if you’re ready for the new The Raveonettes song from their monthly series. I’m going to answer that question for you: Of course you’re ready!
Now, if you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months that I’ve been covering this series, The Raveonettes are a Danish duo that is releasing what they are calling an “anti-album.” Throughout the year 2016 they are releasing a brand new track every single month, and by the end of the year they’ll have a full, potentially cohesive, album.
This month’s track is titled “Won’t You Leave Me Alone” and I already know I’m going to love this because the title perfectly embodies my thoughts on a daily basis. As always, this song comes with an accompanying lyric video. Right off the bat, I’m getting a ’90s vibe with this song. The instruments are very upbeat and there seems to be an emphasis on the drumming.
Not surprisingly, the vocals are on point with this song — they have been with every track from each of the previous months. The music video seems to be a bit darker in nature, showing what looks to be exploding palm trees in a very dimly lit, green tinted background. Starting at a minute and a half into the track, the vocals stop and the song keeps a steady tempo as you get your head nodding along to the beat.
By the time the drumming kicks back in, you’re dancing to a song that’s not as upbeat in the lyrical sense. “Forget it, won’t you leave me alone” is repeated later on into the song, and it really sticks itself into your brain, making you sing that particular line even after the song is over. As with every other song I’ve heard from The Raveonettes thus far, it’s a very catchy track. There’s nothing about it that I didn’t personally enjoy, and I think that this style of music definitely caters to those that have a bit of angst in them.
If you haven’t already checked out their previous tracks, what are you waiting for? Make sure that you catch up!
