Sinistra Shows us The ‘Art Of Manipulation’

There is no question that the Coid-19 pandemic has had a huge effect on the world. It is a frightening time where many people sunk into depression and just hunkered down trying to survive. Others took the challenge as an opportunity. Using their newfound free time to experiment and start new projects. One such project is the new music of Sinistra.

Based in Costa Rica, the progressive metal project is the brainchild of Antonio Masís Brown. The bassist and singer officially launched Sinistra on July 14th, 2020 as an outlet for the music bouncing around his head. As an integral part of long standing metal band Pneuma, Antonio has shared the stage with such legends as Metallica, Judas Priest, and Mastodon among others. The music lifestyle is in his blood and that transforms smoothly into Sinistra.

The debut single release from Sinistra is the epic “Art of Manipulation”. The elegant guitar picked opening provides a cultural flavor that draws in the listener. The sounds seem to encapsulate us in a warm cozy spot to simply sit back and enjoy. The vocals come in to lead us further down the journey.

Antonio explains about the song “I was trying to describe the constant game of influence and manipulation we are all a part of. As human beings, we fight hard for the things we want in life but at times we need to question if we are conducting our own dance or if we are dancing to someone else’s tune.” This can be very relatable for us all, especially in current times.

As the track continues layers and additional textures are added. Guitarist Ari Lotringer and synth player Marvin Picado show some amazing skills adding to the full soundscape. Together we all enjoy the multi-faceted journey over the full 6 and 1/2 minutes of the song.

Keep up with more music to come on the Sinistra INSTAGRAM.
