Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys Welcome Us To ‘Goth Beach’

With summer officially over we can look back at the warmer days with some fondness. The songs of summer are always some of my favorites. Those lazy days could get quite repetitive, and even boring sometimes. Along with the music. But this summer I stumbled upon a track that perked up my summer in quite a different way. Hopefully we can keep Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys newest hit “Goth Beach” in our ears long after Autumn kicks in.

The Boston, Massachusetts based artist creates more than just music. Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys is truly a piece of performance art. Perhaps the Boston Survival Guide described them best as “Musically sophisticated and immensely talented, wildly unusual and diverse in material and presentation, a Dada-esque circus carnival run amuck, and just plain good ‘not-always-so-clean’ fun.”

The newest addition to the artistry of Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys is their music video for the underground hit of the summer “Goth Beach.” The stunning imagery of a circus of goth ‘freaks’ (meant with utmost respect) on the sands of York Beach is attention grabbing to say the least.

The super catchy beat and raw guitar melody lays the backdrop for Walter Sickert’s in your face vocal style. The lyrics provide the mind-melting imagery and suck us in even more. It seems like there is some true inclusivity as he beckons:

Come and find me

At the Goth Beach

You’ll never be lonely

At the Goth Beach Yeah!”

If you do not find yourself singing along by the end of this new summer classic, you may just be dead inside. But then you would want to be at the Goth Beach even more. Let’s hope we do not need to wait until next summer for a new classic.
