This song is not about a billionaire telling the working class to be happy. No, “Fuck You Covid-19” means fuck you, Covid-19. Cool Ass gives voice to the pent-up frustrations that have come along with the pandemic. Blasting this in your room and aggressively singing along is a perfect way to let off some steam while gaining some levity about the entire situation.
This is also a song that addresses our silly some of our complaints truly are. Seeing the turmoil that is taking over 2020, it seems ridiculous to make such a kerfuffle about not getting your hair cut in a month. “Fuck You Covid-19” somehow treads the line between being hilariously ironic and refreshingly genuine.
There is also a truly beautiful side to this song. Listening to Cool Ass’ tune would be wholly incomplete without watching its accompanying music video, which features fans from around the world lip-syncing to “Fuck You Covid-19.” It is quite touching to see this kind of coming-together over music.
