Soles Of Passion – Progressive Country With Meaning

One of the joys and powers of writing music is the ability to share a message.  We are all aware that there are many people around the world that are in need of help but don’t have the voice to make themselves heard.  Blessed is the songwriter who takes these struggles on their back and writes songs to expose the forsaken to the masses.  Our recent find Soles Of Passion is doing just that with their innovative sound.

The musical duo of Steven Wolfe and Myla Snow are based in Los Angeles, California.  Together they bring a new progressive edge to the Country music genre.  In fact, the music of Soles Of Passion is quite hard to categorize as they reach into many different styles.  They also have a lot to say about the current state of our world and they don’t hold back with their musical statements about America and her politics.

The musicians of Soles Of Passion had a life before music.  As former mortgage and real estate professionals, the two have watched in horror as The American Dream – owning one’s own home – has evaporated before the eyes of countless millions of average, hardworking homeowners since 2008.  This heartache motivated them to write songs that aim to make people think, as they are dancing.

To support the cause. Soles Of Passion are set to release their album Escape From Jurisdiction B.  The 8 track record hits on many genres but the main theme throughout is their own version of Progressive Country.  The opening song “Say I Will” hits your imagination right away with spacy sounds letting you know this is no ordinary country record.  The tone turns funky on “Tax Slave” with blues horns adding another layer to the Soles Of Passion sound.  The lyrics are sung with a passion that draws the listener in to pay attention to what is happening.  There is even a curveball Rap verse thrown in to really keep you guessing.  The music speeds up some with “Jurisdiction B”.  The country tinged guitars are there but there is so much going on to bring the song to a higher level.  Inspiration struck on a Colorado ranch for the song “Full Moon”.

The music speeds up some with “Jurisdiction B”.  The country tinged guitars are there but there is so much going on to bring the song to a higher level.  Inspiration struck on a Colorado ranch for the song “Full Moon”.   Reeve Carney was brought into the mix on lap steel guitar on this one.  You can see the wide open space in your mind’s eye as you listen.  The album closes with the energy of “Lifetime/Father’s Eyes”.  The song pushes ahead as the elegantly sung lyrics speak of a father going off to war.  Sounds come in from all angles filling the sonic space for a complete feel and the changes lead you down many different paths.
