Go Back To “This December” With Ghost Town Remedy

The holidays and winter season are a difficult time for many and can cause some major seasonal depression. With the current situation that the world is in, it’s safe to say that we have all experienced some form of seasonal depression this past holiday season.

If this past holiday season left you with a case of seasonal depression, Ghost Town Remedy has got your back with their newest single “This December.”

Ghost Town Remedy is a wry, crushingly-honest, power-pop band based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Ghost Town Remedy got its start in 2011 as a duo between TJ Maher (vocals, guitar) and Steve Lane (drums) in Northern Virginia. The two met at a Christmas pageant and began rocking out together. They decided to relocate to Nashville, Tennessee and recruited Rich Ridgell (bass) and Jordan Winborne (guitar) sometime in 2017, turning Ghost Town Remedy into the power-pop quartet it is today.

With song topics ranging from computer gaming, tragedy, seasonal depression, weed, Taco Bell, and the friend zone, there is a little bit of something for everyone!

Their newest single “This December” takes you on a trip through the land of seasonal depression. It tells the story of a frosty breakup and is a reminder that the holidays are not always a happy time for everyone.

Listen to “This December” Here:

“For many people the holidays are not always bright and merry. It’s not all peppermint sticks, caroling with hot chocolate, and dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh. Often we are reminded of how incredibly difficult the past year has been, best friends who have grown further apart, family that doesn’t understand or support you, failed relationships, and loved ones who are no longer with us. If you’ve ever felt alone during the holidays, pour one out and let’s have a drink. This one’s for you.” – TJ Maher (vocals, guitar)

I can honestly say that I loved everything about this song. The beginning instrumentals brought me right back to “This December” and the swift change in beat at 0:32 had me instantly hooked. I have been a pop-punk kid at heart since high school so the guitar licks, crunching power chords and vocals of this song just hit me in the perfect way.

“This December” is off their upcoming EP Terminally Chill, and is set to release on January 21, 2022. The EP is following their debut-full length 2020 album Dryspell, and will feature 4 songs that embodies the snowy season. If the rest of Terminally Chill is like “This December”, sign me up!
