The All’s Eye is a new genre-blending collaboration of guitarist Ari Joshua, drummer Ben Atkind (Elephantproof, formerly of Goose), and keyboardist Kris Yunker (Bearly Dead, formerly of Goose). The band enlisted The String Cheese Incident percussionist Jason Hann for its vibrant new single, “The Simian”. A song about kicking habits and focusing forward on the dream.
On “The Simian” we get a visceral and trippy track that taps into something primal and untamed. This isn’t your typical indie rock; it’s a jazz-infused experimental beast of a song that pulsates with raw energy and a touch of psychedelic tones.
A Descent into the unknown:
With “The Simian,” The All’s Eye wastes no time. The song kicks off with a driving, almost tribal rhythm section that immediately grabs your attention. The guitars weave an exotic riff that snakes its way through the song. Think The Allman Brothers meshed with a trippy Phish groove.
The vocals are a force of nature of their own. They are quick and bouncy and full of passion. A bluesman possessed by a wild spirit, channeling smooth emotion through every rise and fall. Some amazing piano riffs build an energy that whips your mind into a frenzy of chaotic, but joyful emotion. In fact they fully take over for a full minute of the track taking you to another world inside your head.
A Sonic Jungle:
The overall feel of “The Simian” is one of controlled chaos. The song feels like it’s about to fall apart at any moment, but it never does. This tension is what makes the track so compelling. It’s a sonic jungle, full of unexpected twists and turns, where anything can happen yet the fun feel remains throughout.
Keep an ear out as this is one of more than a dozen singles that The All’s Eye plans to release in the coming months. And if you can get to Pennsylvania, catch The All’s Eye this Friday February 14th at Kings Rook Club in Erie, PA.
