A lifelong dedication to music will require overcoming obstacles. Maybe you started on one instrument but adapting meant learning others. Music lifers will wear many hats. At some point, the idea of “I’ll start my own band” takes hold. Thanks to technology, I find there are more musicians throwing their hats into the ring. Minneapolis Minnesota native Jason Bradley fits this narrative. Playing music in high school bands and beyond. After a tumultuous 2020, Jason throws his hat in the ring.
Today we debut his single ‘Our Troubled Hearts‘.
Even though I didn’t realize it at the time. The 90’s alternative sound is unmistakable and can be heard in ‘Our Troubled Hearts’. Adding emotive weight to the lyrics is a bit of a southern drawl to Jason’s vocals. Subject wise the lyrics look inward. He sings them in a way that makes us want to sing along. His delivery feels fearless, eyes closed, holding nothing back.
The music moves as anticipated. Tight peaks and valleys of the track graciously flow into one another. A great example is the guitar solo flowing into the halftime bridge. Energy resets, percolates before exploding into the outro chorus. Songwriting peaks and valleys 101.
When analyzing an artist and their music, I look for how many boxes I can check. Jason Bradley has a great story. From the minor leagues to the pro circuit. Check. Recording sounds great. Band is tight. There’s no holding back on the vocal delivery. Check, check, check! Future looks bright. I believe the term is “skies the limit”.
