For some bands music just happens. There is no big plan to put it all together. Jam sessions build into full fledged song gold. Tiny Tree is one of those bands.
We had the chance to chat with them recently to try and get a look behind the curtain. Enjoy the interview
First off, what is with the name Tiny Tree?
Paul went on a vision quest with a shaman from the southwest where he saw a tiny tree floating above the ground absorbing negative energy and the first time Addison and Paul jammed a song idea it sounded like Addison was singing “Tiny Tree.”
How would you describe your sound?
Tiny Tree has a very dynamic, ever evolving, anything goes sound. We don’t allow boundaries and are always exploring.
Which artists have had the biggest influence on the development of Tiny Tree?
It would be very hard to say only certain artists have shaped Tiny Tree.
How does a song come together for you? What is the songwriting process?
Most if not all the songs released or unreleased come together by impromptu jam sessions. Those are recorded in the studio or sometimes live then analyzed and structured to what we feel is needed to express the concepts or feelings we are trying to relay.
Looks like you have a nice tour coming up. Tell us about the Tiny Tree live show?
Tiny Tree likes to take the listener and show attendant on a sonic journey. Lots of ups and downs build ups and exploration. With bad jokes in between.
What does the future hold for Tiny Tree?
More of everything. Pushing farther, more writing, more shows, more musical growth.
