First off, what is the story behind the name Zhe MilkyWay?

Zhe MilkyWay is more than an artist. Consider it a musical sanctuary where music

is expressed without limits or boundaries.

How would you describe your sound?

Its Funky, Urban trap Funk,

Which artists would you say are your biggest influences?

Prince, Michael Jackson, Future, Snoop Dogg

Has being born and raised in the musical hotbed of Minneapolis, Minnesota helped or hindered your growth?

I would say both. Musically It helps because of the diversity culture here there are many different sounds, and styles accepted so you don’t to try and fit into any particular box. Hindered the growth because the music scene here is really only underground because recently we have not had many major artists come from here to put Minneapolis on the map.So it’s only so much you can accomplish staying local here.

I hear that you write the music, play the instruments, record, produce, and engineer. Are you a control freak?

I wouldn’t say control freak but It’s a must for me to stay free while creating music. I let my body and movements control the music and let my mind rest during that time.

How does a song come together for Zhe MilkyWay? What is the songwriting process?

Most of the time it starts with me jumping on one of the instruments and starting a jam session then I go from one instrument to the next adding that instruments parts. After most of the music is recorded the vibe usually speaks to me on what the song should be about so then I start with the Chorus and go from there.

Share some advice for other artists creating unique original music?

Stay free, I know everyone fans, media sometimes want to place you in a box but do your best to create the music that feels right to you and that you believe in.
