A person’s surroundings will always influence their musical tastes and creativity. It is definitely an advantage for an artist that has experienced different environments, cultures, and music. Our latest find Ordinary Childhood has been around and is using that to his creative advantage.
The independent rapper/songwriter was raised in Washington DC but now calls Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany home. Ordinary Childhood has been making music since he was 12 years old and hustling ever since to get his music into the hands of the people. Growing up in the northwest section of DC, he was heavily influenced by the West Indian population there and the musical stylings of Dancehall and Reggae. Now in Germany there is a new set of influences that has led Ordinary Childhood to create his own unique style of music. He hopes through his music to send out a message of peace, love and unity, along with respect for each other and encouragement through their journey in this life.
At the moment Ordinary Childhood is hard at work on his next album scheduled for release in February 2014. He has leaked us the first single entitled “No Love”. All the influences seem to come together in a perfect mesh. The bouncy beat is upfront with a wall of sound in the background taking up all of the empty space. His rap style is smooth and mellow while spitting positive lyrics aimed at inspiring instead of bashing. We look forward to hearing the rest of the record.
