To develop as an artist, you must be willing to be influenced by all your experiences and journeys. With the myriad of genres melding together in today’s music scene to create brand new genres nothing is off limits. We recently discovered ORieL who has created his own fusion that is bringing him some major attention.
The singer-songwriter and producer was born in Dominica, a small island in the Caribbean. ORieL was active in his school and church choir as a child. It is here where he developed a true passion for the art of music. He later moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and dove into the music scene there absorbing all he could. ORieL became a popular club DJ, talented Studio Engineer, and well known Graphic Artist.
All of these varied experiences became the basis for ORieL’s Reggae-Fusion music. There are elements of Jazz, R&B, Rock, Blues and Hip Hop all intertwined within. His work in production with both local and international artists expanded musical skills further.
ORieL is now part of the Afar Music Group recording label and has released a couple EPs and a string of successful singles. The newest single, “People Say” is the lead single from his debut full-length record set for release in the Spring of 2017.
Right from the start, the mellow production and sultry vocals of ORieL stand out. The song is about the oldest emotion… Love! ORieL states, “Love is an emotion that connects all humans, no matter the race, creed or class, it is a uniting feeling. We can all relate at one point or another in our lives.”
Interesting sounds and melodies creep along in the background as the raspy yet extremely sexy lyrics paint a picture of perseverance in love. There is just a beauty that oozes through the speakers here.
The single will shortly be available on all major online digital stores, and for now can be streamed on SoundCloud. Follow more from ORieL and the Afar Music Group HERE.
