In the current music scene, bands and artists out there need to be more than just good songs. Fans want a full audio and visual and connective experience. Giving that to them is what creates true fans that will follow a band way past the success of a one-hit wonder. Our friends Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys seem to be keeping that full vision going with their newest single and music video.
The 6-piece (and sometimes 8-piece) band from Boston, Massachusetts has made quite a name for themselves with their dark carnival image and sound. Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys went viral last year with their hit “Goth Beach.” The catchy track with an imaginative music video spread like wildfire and listeners took note. We featured the song HERE on IndieBandGuru as well.
Now, Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys are back with more ‘not-always-so-clean’ fun. “Keep My Head” is an in your face avant-garde rock spectacle that is grabbing attention of the masses again. Opening with a string section to perk up your ears and wonder what is going on, the track soon divulges into an all out rocker. The steady rock drumbeat paired with the energetic vocals of Walter Sickert turns up the party.
The music video is a visually stunning masterpiece. Not only for the costumes and production but also the wild images flashing across your screen. Filmed at ‘secret locations’ around Massachusetts, I am sure the land owners did not know exactly what they were in for. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself watching it multiple times to take in all the action.
Let’s watch this one build up some steam and keep an eye on where Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys wish to take us next.
