The party is popping off like it’s Saturday seven days a week in the music video for Country Goldd and Producer Spyder Raw’s new single “Pass Me Another Drink,” and although hedonistic in every respect, this track features some truly superior play from both of its marquee players. Indulgence reigns supreme over the visual setup for the video, but the verses that are exchanged between Country Goldd and Producer Spyder Raw (who produced the piece) thrust us into the atmosphere of the imagery, pouring us a cocktail and ensuring that we’re going to be having as much fun as everyone on screen is.
At first glance, this song feels like a throwback, but the attitude from these two rappers is collectively far too cut and dry to be a parody of the old school. If anything, these guys are paying homage to a more homespun era in hip-hop that featured more groove-centric rhymes and cosmetic excesses, such as those in the video, as a template off which to build an entire premise.

If loving the OG beat in this piece is wrong, I as a critic don’t want to be right; this is a pair that knows their way around a formula, and they’re exploiting it rather brilliantly in “Pass Me Another Drink.”
Contemporary rap releases as pure and to the point as this single and its companion video are definitely qualify as a rare commodity in 2022, and it’s from this perspective that I think Country Goldd and Producer Spyder Raw deserve some legit praise for their work here. They manage to flex in the booth while still preserving a lighthearted lyrical center that doesn’t leave us feeling like we’re listening to a modified Pepsi commercial, and relative to the competition I think this makes them a rather bold and applause-worthy collaborative duo.
