A mellow beat is not a boring beat. Kenny Foster proves this with his latest single, “Alright Then.”
Kenny Foster is well-known for mixing thoughtful lyrics with light melodies. For the past few years, he has proven to be a fantastic songwriter and musician, with previous tracks like “Sideways Apocalypse” and “Poor Little Trillionaire” being covered on the pages of IndieBandGuru not too long ago.
“Alright Then” is a lot more than its title suggests. It has a comforting feeling, like being wrapped in a blanket, warm and cozy. It’s as if the world is passing by, but the song itself is slow enough to just sit there and take a calm breath. Including lo-fi sounds, it would be a perfect song to throw on while doing work or studying, with its mellow instruments and quiet voice mixing perfectly. Despite the overlapping layers of vocals, guitar, and piano, the song never feels crowded.

‘”Alright Then” feels like sitting in a dream, colors swirling around and sparkling. There’s something light about the song that can’t be replicated. Troubles can easily pass by, but this song makes that seem alright. There is nothing wrong with struggling, as long as you get up and keep pushing forward. As someone who often finds herself stressed out over minuscule things, this single makes me feel like I don’t have to be scared. On a cold day, it feels warm.
Kenny Foster definitely has more to share, but this single is a great taste of what he has to offer. If you’re having a rough day, I believe turning this track on and sitting back in a relaxing chair would do you well.
