Getting ahead in the music business, and in any business really, comes down to making the right connections. In music especially, the more contacts the better because you never know who will hit it big and be able to help your career down the road. Always be building bridges and never burn one. The artist Donica Knight has this figured out and is doing her best to be a friend to everyone she meets in the music business.
The singer/songwriter has created her own unique blend of Southern rock, Country, Blues and old East Memphis music that has captured the attention of not only fans but big powerhouses in the scene. Donica Knight is one hard working country girl too with over 350 performances under her belt. The list of country and rock superstars she has opened for is even more impressive including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr., Kid Rock, Luke Bryan, Kenny Rogers, Kellie Pickler, Blackberry Smoke, REO Speedwagon, The Band Perry, and 3 Doors Down. Quite a diverse list but she is able to fit right in with any crowd.
Donica Knight Experience With The Superstars Has Her Ready For The Mainstream
It is amazing Donica Knight finds the time to get in the studio and write but when she does she works with big names there too. She has written and recorded duets with country legend, Ronnie Milsap and has had the pleasure of working with Platinum selling and Grammy nominated producers such as Mickey Jack Cones, Blake Mevis, and Rob Galbraith.
Last week Donica Knight released her new Can’t Buy a Southern Girl EP (out March 17, 2016). It features the scorching lead single and video, “Love Ain’t a Prize.” It is a party right from the start with raw energy exuding from Donica’s powerful vocals. The hook is very catchy and I found myself singing “Can’t Buy A Southern Girl” happily even though I am a male for the Northeast. The production is top notch as well as this song is ready for mainstream radio success.
