When music is life you are free to keep experimenting and expanding even after success. Even after penning hit songs you can continue to be quirky and inventive. Our friend Ehson Hashemian’s new album Me Then You shows us the kind of indie pop color and flavor that has long been a hallmark of his best work and that there is plenty more great music inside him.

To catch the uniformed up, Ehson Hashemian is a California singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a knack for authentic modern storytelling and indelible melodies. As part of indie legends Young The Giant, he co-wrote the group’s hit song “Cough Syrup.” The track was certified double platinum in the U.S., peaked at #3 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, was included in the Fright Night film remake soundtrack, and was covered on Glee and The Voice. His work has also appeared on television shows such as MTV’s The Real World: Brooklyn and A&E’s The Beast.

This time out, Ehson Hashenian goes all out and delivers a true concept album. Me Then You is indeed that rarely-seen long form effort that aspires to be more than a collection of unrelated songs. “A theme that runs through most of the album is a longing for love and friendship,” he explains, “and the need to eliminate hatred in the world.” The record is meant to be a cohesive narrative, which is something Hashenian has never attempted before.

Lyric Video for ‘You Got It’ by Ehson Hashemian

The first single from Me Then You, “You Got It,” dropped on Friday, October 17, 2025. It’s an upbeat electronic cut with an unusual-but-effective chorus hook that sets it apart from the more guitar-driven songs contained on the set. Ehson Hashenian is quite multi-dimensional as a songwriter and goes fearlessly into his ideas and inspirations. No restrictions.

Speaking of guitars, Ehson Hashenian serves up a classic strums-and-single-notes indie rock vibe on the opening track “Back Home.” The song quickly draws you in and gets you moving, all the while displaying an enviable economy of motion. Hashenian only needs a handful of chords to create his magic and he makes each one count.

Other intriguing moments on Me Then You include the trippy groove of “I Knew” and the joyful bounce of the title track “Me Then You”. Ehson Hashenian continues to show his talent along with his unique character that’s completely his own. Take a taste of Me Then You and see for yourself.
