So much of the popular music scene is cyclical. Genres and styles will fade but as soon as they are seemingly forgotten, they will pop back up again. This may have worked out perfectly for our recent find PG Naylor and his classic sound.
Based in Sydney, Australia, the singer and songwriter started his musical journey back in the 1960s. That classic rock sound had its own feel and PG Naylor was a big part of that scene. A life in the corporate world caused a long hiatus in his music making. Now, PG is back where he belongs in his first passion, 60’s rock music.
It seems like the audience for 60’s rock is back as well. Pg Naylor’s last album Sanctuary gained some great attention. The title track received critical honors as well in the International Songwriting Competition, based in Nashville, and the 2020 Voyager International Songwriting Competition based in Melbourne, Australia. Truly worldwide appeal.
‘Better Left Unsaid’ by PG Naylor
Now PG Naylor is back with a pair of new singles to keep the nostalgic flow going. “Better Left Unsaid” is a catchy track full of pep. It is a rehash of a song written some 20 years earlier. Some modern edits and lyric changes led to a song that could fit both in a 60’s rock playlist as well as modern rock radio. Chugging guitars and uniquely delivered lyrics keep the song moving ahead deep into your mind.
The other new song “Sensible” has quite a different tone to start. The piano lead adds an elegant sound that relaxes the soul. As the track picks up speed that fun 60’s rock sound is present again. Some smooth guitar fills and production added sounds bring us back to an easier time. The vocals are delivered with more passion here drawing us into the story.
