There is much more to a music artist than just writing and performing songs.  These are real people with real concerns for the world.  Our recent find Sullee J has a true love for helping others and uses his music to aid in any way he can.

Sullee J

The Baltimore, Maryland based emcee is actively involved in charity work to inspire, move and generally help people in a diversity of bad situations.  Sullee J has given motivational speeches on behalf of Save the Children in Norway, and has also worked on projects with Melissa’s Hope which is in Port Au Prince Haiti, Maria Monique Organization in Indonesia, Global Charity Thaakat Foundation and has helped raise funds for St. Christopher’s Home for Children in St. Kitts.  His love of music began early as he discovered his gifts.  Such luminaries as Lupe Fiasco, DMX, Eminem, Rakim, and even Hans Zimmer are mentioned as influences.

The newest project by Sullee J is the impressive mixtape Victory which was released last month.  The 11 track record continues his aim at helping people with his music.  The opening “Victory (Intro)” lets the inspirational lyrics stand out in front of a mellow beat that fills the room.  There is a darker feel to “Devil Inside Part II” with an eerie background behind a story of things not quite going exactly as planned but there is hope for getting through to a positive finish.  The production here is top notch.  On “Deen Over Dunya” Sullee shows he can spit out some fast and furious flow as the lyrics fire away with the head bopping beat.  The lead single off the record “Common Chick” (that is also accompanied with a music video) is a true standout.  There are some Jazz influences scattered within as sounds fill the sonic space with Sullee J’s earnest vice shining through as he shares a different kind of love story with his listeners.  Go get a listen for yourself at:
