Piqued Jacks are back, and they are bringing a taster of what to expect from their upcoming album Synchronizer. The road to their latest chapter of music has seen them evolve so much since forming in 2006.
Their journey has seen a change in band members, but the more noticeable is with their music. Early releases saw a sound influenced by the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Biffy Clyro and The Killers, to name but a few. However, the debut album The Living Past showcased a more mature and alternative rock tone which felt like they were more confident about their work.
Now to the present, Piqued Jacks are excited about their new single “Every Day Special”. A song about “living for the here and now, rather than letting it slip by us; to enjoy it rather than ruining it by dreaming of a distant future, of something else, of somewhere else”. The accompanying video perfectly demonstrates the message they are sharing.
“Every Day Special” opens up with a gentle beat. It slowly builds up for the opening lines “Don’t look forward to being in another place / To a special day / No need to go to a future so far away / You don’t wanna wait”. Instantly, its soft vocal delivery lets the listener take in the lines about living for today.
The mood changes with the chorus as the band explodes into action. The energy they create is infectious and helps to give this hook more of an impact. Especially with the lyrics “Make every day special / Do not waste it thinking it may be better”.
The band as a whole create a captivating soundtrack, which features a killer guitar solo. However, “Every Day Special” is all about the lyrics and the simple message about living in the present. It is perfectly highlighted with the stand out lines “Don’t look forward to skipping to another page / Where the plot unveils / Give meaning instead to the moments along the way / Before it’s too late”.
‘Every Day Special’ shows that Piqued Jacks upcoming album Synchronizer will be essential listening
“Every Day Special” is not only one of the best songs by Piqued Jacks, but it also builds up the hype for their upcoming album. The single highlights how far the band have come with their music. It gives off a confident mood and sounds like the guys are enjoying their work. Now they have given us a taste of what is to come we now have to wait impatiently for more.
