It takes a special type of artist to break free from the music business machine mindset. Trying to make music they think the public wants. When you can move towards creating songs that fulfill your own soul the real magic happens. Do it for yourself and the rest will fall into place. We recently came across Pierre Reynolds who has discovered this freedom and has a new single “Modern Day Cowboy” to show it off.

We caught up with the multi-talented artist to get a little deeper into how this new path came together for him. Enjoy the interview here:

First off, what is it that draws you to create music?

What drives me to create music right now is pure inspiration — the kind that comes from finally feeling like I’ve found my voice. Before releasing my latest track, Modern Day Cowboy, I experienced a years-long creative block. Looking back, I think that came from not allowing real, authentic emotions to flow through my music. I was too focused on chasing trends and not truly listening to what my own musical instincts were trying to say.

How would you describe the Pierre Reynolds sound?

Now that I’ve reconnected with my creative self, I’m tapping into a deeper place — one that has a lot to say and isn’t afraid to be bold or honest. The sound of Pierre Reynolds is about to become more diverse than ever, and that excites me. From the outside, it might feel like a musical buffet — one day it’s Country Trap, the next it’s R&B, then Afro Beats. I don’t want to be confined to a single genre. I just want to make music that moves me — and hopefully others too.

Which artists have had the biggest influence on you?

Some of the artists who’ve influenced me over time include Chris Brown, Usher, Metallica, Babyface, Nirvana, and A Tribe Called Quest. That range reflects how wide my own musical palette has become.

How does a song come together for Pierre Reynolds? What is your songwriting process?

My songwriting process usually starts with a melody — whether that’s a vocal line or an instrumental riff. Once a melody hits me (or finds me), I begin building the lyrics around it. Often, I’ll start with the hook and let the rest of the song unfold naturally from there.

Your new single “Modern Day Cowboy” hits hard on multiple genres. Tell us how the song evolved.

Modern Day Cowboy came to me unexpectedly. I was driving when the idea, melody, and lyrics just hit all at once. I think that sudden clarity came from my time living in the South and the experiences I had there — they just needed to be expressed musically. I wrote most of the song in the car using voice-to-text, and the production came together so effortlessly it was finished in just a few days.

Share some advice for other artists doing their own thing outside of the mainstream box.

If I had to offer any advice to other artists, it would be this: stay true to who you are. Create music that resonates with you first. The rest will follow.

What does the future hold for Pierre Reynolds?

Looking ahead, I’m hopeful about releasing a full album and eventually performing that music live. There’s a lot more coming — and it’s all coming from a place that’s real.
