IBG Interview – 7 Questions With… Alonzo

Alonzo

Preparing to release new music is a cathartic experience. So many pieces coming together as it all builds up to a giant climax of your own personal music. We recently had the chance to chat with gifted singer Alonzo to get a little insight into his upcoming EP.

Enjoy the interview here:

Hello Alonzo! Great to have some time with you today! We heard that you have an EP dropping early this year. Is that true?

Hey! Awesome to speak with you guys as well. YES! An EP is definitely coming soon. We’re finishing it early but the EP won’t come out until this summer.

What can you tell us about it? Do you have a title?

Ahhhh I want to say so much but I kind of want to keep most a mystery for now haha. I will drop an exclusive though, this is the first time I’m speaking of this publicly the title of my Debut EP is “ENOUGH” J

Did you write the songs on your EP? If so, can you give us some insight on what that is like for you? Do you set down and write a song in one session or is it more inspiration throughout different times in life – or a combination of both?

Yes! Every single song I’ve written with my producer/co-writer Eric Zayne. Typically, we write the songs in one session in the studio. Recently though I’ve been doing a lot more writing at home. I decided to go celibate to complete this EP and one of the things that I do when I’m “in the mood” is write songs. It’s been a really cool journey and it has really shown me how powerful it can be for us to use our sexual energy for creativity. I truly believe this music is some of my best work yet.

How will the music on the EP differ from what you have previously released? Will it be a big departure or in the same wheel house?

Well the cool thing about an EP is I get to tell a full story. Its less about the singles and more about a full body of work which I’m really excited about. I think music previously released was me still discovering my sound. On the EP, it will be clear that I have officially found my sound.

What do you hope listeners take away after hearing your music?

I honestly just want them to feel something. My biggest goal is evoking emotion. The emotions felt depend on the listener but as long as they feel SOMETHING I feel accomplished. In my eyes music that makes you feel nothing has failed.

Tell us what do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?

I love this question because I really need to start practicing the answer to it. This is a very common question for upcoming artists. For me I know I stand out because I don’t sound like anyone. My voice is different to begin with. Add that to the fact that I am a black boy primarily singing Rock music and you have something that’s not normal. The way that I think is not common as well. I use to be afraid to say this in public because I never want to seem like I’m not humble but I’ve learned that I can be humble with extraordinary talent.

If fans want to catch you live soon, where can they do that? And tell us where we can connect with you online.
