IBG Interview – 8 Questions With… Sinseer

sinseer

Hip hop is not the first genre you think of in the conversation of faith-based music. There are plenty of artists from all over the musical spectrum though that do put thier beliefs into their music. Our recent find Sinseer is one of those talents that is changing the game to share a message of glory.

We had a chance to chat with the Christian hip-hop artist to get a little deeper into why he does what he does. Enjoy the interview:

First off, tell us about the name Sinseer?

I actually gave myself the name Sinseer. I thought about using my real name(JaCory Thomas) but I didn’t know if I wanted the problems that come along with doing that. I chose the name Sinseer because that’s what I try to be all the time.

How would you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound as kind of a 90’s Hip-Hop/Rap with a strong Christian focus.

Which artists have had the biggest influence on you?

Artists like NF, Bryann Trejo and Lecrae have had the biggest influence on me in the Christian Hip-Hop community.

What is your songwriting process? How does a song come to you?

My songwriting process is kinda different. I like to start off with a prayer or conversation with God before I write or try to think of anything, but for the most part, I come up with most of my songs in the shower. I usually start off with the hook/chorus and then I start writing the verses.

Tell us about your latest EP Cognitive Dissonance.

Cognitive Dissonance is the second EP that I have released. It’s full of everything songs that will turn you up, songs that will make you think, songs that will make you cry and it real, it positive and it’s for the Glory of God most importantly. The EP has 4 songs and everyone has power and a message.

What do you hope the listener will take away from your music?

My message is simple keep your faith, trust in Jesus and give God all the Glory for everything good and bad

Share some advice for artists creating their own lane in the music business?

Never give up never quit! You cant win if you never finish the race.

Where do you see the future of Sinseer going?

My vision for the future is to help build the youth and give my community and hopefully others communities a center that will help build and grow the communities and cities
