Kim Petras has introduced her fans to what she calls “Era 2” with the release of her single, and namesake of her upcoming tour, “Broken”.
While “Broken” is indeed the introduction of a new chapter for Petras, a faint remembrance of her past work can be heard in the single. Notes of an electronic-pop fusion base from her past are still present in broken. However, her new single adds a new ingredient to the mix, R&B.
Petras’ “Broken” combines raw R&B lyrics with a catchy pop flow that will no doubt be stuck in your head for days on end. “Broken” tells the exact opposite story of the song that broke YouTube, Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next”. While Grande spoke of thankfulness for what her past lovers have taught her, Petras sings “you cut me open, I cried oceans, all I wanted was devotion, I got no thing”.
Fans of Petras’ are supportive as ever of her self-proclaimed “Era 2” and are already showing enthusiasm for her’ upcoming “Broken” tour starting mid-June. You can keep up with Kim Petras on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
