Solomon King & The Chosen Drop ‘No. 5’

When your life’s plan falls through, you might as well pick yourself up by the bootstrap and chase your dreams. That’s exactly what Solomon King did back in the day when his Detroit City automobile factory job laid off mass numbers of employees. With nothing left to loose, Solomon made a b-line for the West Coast with his acoustic guitar in hand. The results have left him with years of experience crafting poignant music with Solomon King & The Chosen. Now, they’re here to please with their latest album release titled No. 5.

Solomon’s time being unemployed after his layoff allowed him to immerse himself completely into blues. That time has made his music even more relatable and palatable to fans. No. 5 features nine tracks that will show you the best of the blues, rock ‘n’ roll, Americana, and R&B.

Listen to No. 5 below

The album kicks off with a powerfully emotive track titled “Drinking This Whiskey.” This song combines the best of blues and country to make a song that strikes cords deep within your soul. But the album doesn’t stay low for long as the next track “Sunset and Mars” brings some funk to the forefront. Groovy and hypnotic, “Sunset and Mars” provides a great contrast to the album opener.

“Ashes & Dust” is the next stand out track on No. 5. If “Sunsets and Mars” introduced a groovy vibe into this album, then “Ashes & Dust” amplifies it tenfold. This song is smooth and oh so coooooool. I’d be hard pressed to find someone who didn’t find this track enjoyable.

Solomon continues to highlight his diverse talents and abilities throughout No. 5. You can get a taste of emotive high’s and low’s throughout, and each pairs with a unique sound. The range shown throughout this album is beyond impressive, and sure to give fans of all genres something to listen to.

Solomon King has taken his hardships in life and turned them into aural gold. No. 5. can be found on Spotify!
