Music is supposed to come from the heart. Far too often in today’s mainstream music we just get multiple writers putting together a garbled mess just to get attention. But there is no substance there. On the other side is the true storytelling musician that puts real life into their music. One such artist is our recent discovery Ryan Dart.
The singer-songwriter hailing from Colorado makes a point of sharing true emotion in his songs. You can’t just make stuff up and write about it. Ryan Dart has lived the life personally and through his family. As a grandson of the dust bowl and a steward of the land, he makes a point of sharing what he has learned and the pain along the way. True authenticity is truly important.
On April 22, 2022, Ryan Dart will be releasing his latest album Edge Of the Wild. 12 tracks that lay it all out there. For the opener “Ready For The Road” he yearns to get back on the road and live the interesting journey he has created for himself. A steady beat meshed with pretty guitar melodies and his straightforward vocal style welcomes all listeners to join him.
Music video for “Us Or The Dust”
The lead track “Us Or The Dust” turns up the dusty Americana vibe with a slowed down track. This one seems deeply personal to Ryan Dart. The elegant guitar picking and lyrics full of real life emotion that we can all relate to. We can relax to the sound but the feelings building up inside will have us thinking.
The energy turns up with “Loves Gone Outta Style” with a peppier vibe. But as in most of Ryan Dart’s songs there is a darker tone underneath. Here he relents on the results of the pandemic and forced quarantines of the last 2 years. The guitar work here is fun and very enjoyable to listen to. “Right Or Wrong” continues this vibe in a more heartfelt way with a sound that creeps along with a cozy feel to it as Ryan leads the way.
Towards the end of the record we get to hear some of his influences with an amazing version of “Shooting Star” by the legendary Bob Dylan. The emotions are constant even when the song is not his own. Elegant and truly heartwarming.
