Too many independent artists try to impress with volume and spectacle right from the start. Our recent discovery Kies takes the opposite path on his new single “You’re Golden.” The track wins with patience and subtle detail. It feels intimate but carefully crafted.
Kies is the brainchild of German-born musician Jakob Dietrich. The artist, now based in New Orleans, has soaked up the local sounds to blend jazz, indie soul, and modern R&B influences into his own personal style. The result feels smooth, atmospheric, and refreshingly understated.
New single “You’re Golden” opens with a simple rhythmic pulse with a heavy bass drum to anchor the groove. Different instruments arrive slowly, and with purpose. Soon the track begins to bloom. Saxophone lines weave through the arrangement. The melodies float in and out of the rhythm. The production stays spacious and controlled. Every element has room to breathe…..and shine.

Kies keeps the vocal delivery relaxed and warm. There are no flashy runs or dramatic peaks. Instead, the performance feels conversational and reassuring. The tone matches the message of the song. The lyrics offer comfort and quiet confidence to just be you.
It seems the track’s strength is its restraint. Many artists would push the arrangement further. Kies chooses subtlety instead. That choice gives the song an emotional weight that can be felt in both the music and lyrics.
“You’re Golden” also carries that late-night mood. It is the kind of track that rewards headphones and a quiet room or background for a romantic evening. The groove settles in slowly and stays there. Don’t get me wrong, the instrumental flourishes after the 2 minute mark provide a lively wake up that gets the blood flowing. Kies shows impressive control as a songwriter and producer. The sound is modern but rooted in classic soul and jazz textures. More importantly, it feels authentic.
If this single is a preview of what’s ahead, Kies is an artist worth watching. (Debut album scheduled for release in late 2026). Sometimes the quietest songs leave the strongest mark. “You’re Golden” proves exactly that.
