Rock albums have a way of revealing their character early. A few seconds in, you can usually tell whether a band is going through the motions or playing like it means every note. Intimate Dream falls firmly in the second camp on Mine Alone, a ten-track record that mixes power rock, funk, jazz touches, and an Americana turn without ever losing its footing.
Intimate Dream is the brainchild of singer, songwriter, and guitarist Hugh Faulds, who wrote eight of the album’s ten songs. Two tracks come from Larry Williams, which adds a second pen to the mix. Furthermore, the record was made at Winterland Recording Studios and The Terrarium Recording Studios, with Todd Fitzgerald and Brian Johnson handling the engineering, producing, and mastering. Both men have worked with Grammy-winning artists, including Alanis Morissette, Christina Aguilera, Elvis Costello, Slipknot, Soul Asylum, and Prince.
The title track, “Mine Alone,” sets the tone right away. Its opening builds to a soaring burst of energy. Layers of instruments meld together into a full sound, and a playful guitar line adds some flair along the way. Even so, the song stays smooth and steady, the kind of head-bopping groove that is easy to settle into.
The music video for “Mine Alone” carries a message of female empowerment. Its visuals rise alongside the song’s opening build, so the energy on screen matches the energy in your speakers.
From there, “Dark Clouds” pushes the album somewhere more adventurous. This power rocker adds solid funk and jazz tones, and the funky bass pairs with picked guitar to build a vibe all its own. Meanwhile, strong female vocals turn up the energy and give the track a confident edge. Blending styles can leave a song scattered, but this one holds together because every part serves the groove.
Later, “Won’t Forget” guides the record toward an Americana feel. The slightly slower tempo gives the song room to sink into the listener’s mind, which suits the subject. After all, some memories do not fade even after a relationship is long gone. Great production layers each part carefully, so the track feels complete without ever feeling crowded.
On the harder side, “Find Love” pairs fancy guitar fills with a strong rock beat. The vocals are delivered with purpose. The result will get your toes tapping and your head banging. In addition, the guitar solo is a real highlight, and the musicianship stays excellent from the first bar to the last.
Closing the album, “Raise Your Hand” is an unapologetic breakup song. Power rock drives it, the drums hit hard, and the guitar takes its turn to show off. Consequently, the record ends on a defiant note leaving the listener wanting more.
Released on September 4, 2026, Mine Alone shows what strong songs can do with experienced hands guiding the sound. Intimate Dream moves between power rock, funk, and Americana with confidence, and the polished production keeps every shift feeling natural. Fans of guitar-forward rock with some attitude should add this one to the rotation. You can stream the album on Spotify.
