The Raveonettes Have Another Hit with “Junko Ozawa”

I think with this being the third review for the Raveonettes‘ 1-track-per-month Rave-Sound-of-the-Month series (so many hyphens!), it’s already known that I really appreciate their sound. Raveonettes Advance Rave-Sound-of-the-Month

The Raveonette’s are definitely a unique group. The music that they have been putting out and that I have been so honored to listen to is completely different from anything that I have heard before. They know how to personalize their sound, and they do it oh so well. The latest track from the series, “Junko Ozawa,” comes along with a lyric video that is just as intense as the previous two.

I must state that unlike the other videos I’ve seen, there is no warning of epileptic episodes that come along with this one, so I’m not expecting many bright flashes. The song starts off very high-tempo, and totally makes you want to dance around.

There’s a video game sound that appears in the background at some points that make you feel like you’re playing Pacman or some totally nostalgic video game that I was too young to enjoy when they came out.

Close to two minutes into the track, the tempo slows down a bit and takes a completely different turn. The vocals seem to be a bit hidden in the background of this song, but not in a way that makes the instruments overpower them. It just makes it sound a bit more….Vintage.

It’s a nice tidbit to the song that some may not understand, but with the very vintage themes hidden within the lyric video, it seems to me that The Raveonettes’ knew exactly what they were doing with this one. And of course, with this latest release, they hit the nail right on the head.

Each of their tracks differs so much from the others, so it’s always a very unique experience to be able to enjoy one of their songs. As always, this one has left me longing for yet another song, which will be released in accordance to the schedule that they follow on their website.
