Everyone in the pub is arm in arm, singing at the top of their lungs and laughing while trying to finish their current round of beers.
It’s nights like these that build a sense of camaraderie and belonging. A reminiscent memory, maybe from high school, college, or last week after work, that still follows you and brings a sense of joy to think of that great night with great people.
The Interrupters have somehow managed to capture that feeling and record it into a 2:30 song, “By My Side.” The song is a feel-good track that both new wave rock and old school punk fans can sing along to.
An Irish-Rock-Meets-Punk Track
The track opens with an unmistakable energy, offering a rough guitar and simple but rocking drum beat. The first impression is a lot like Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly, but The Interrupters are fronted by a kick-ass female vocalist, Aimee Interrupter, with an energetic and slightly raspy voice.
The song then leads into melodic instrumentation and has a true rock set up using only a guitar, bass, and classic drum set. The Interrupters distinguish themselves with this set up by putting forth an amazing amount of energy through their music. The tune itself is simple, but the heightened passion emitted by every member of the four-piece band is irresistibly catchy.
The energy is only heightened by the entire band singing the chorus. The rough harmonization gives off a positive feeling and makes you feel like you can sing along at the top of your lungs. This is a song you would sing with your friends at the pub after a few beers on a great Friday night. The chorus specifically gives a feeling of comradery among both the band and anyone listening to the track.
“By My Side” is one of 14 tracks on The Interrupters newest album, Say It Out Loud, and will be a focal point of The Interrupters’ Warped Tour set.
