The fact that there are so many different styles of music out in the world only begets more unique styles. As artists we are always taking in these different styles and letting it influence our own music. Variety is the spice of life they say. That is never as true as in music. Our recent discovery, Makeout Monster has put together some pieces to create a sound that is all his own.

Based in Manhattan, Kansas, Jax Meyer grew up playing guitar and drums in various bands around the area. This experience helped him gain the confidence and experience to keep growing his own style. The alter-ego Makeout Monster was born. Such varied genres as bedroom pop, black metal, and drum ‘n bass are tied into the sound. Pouring his other loves of anime and tattoo art further solidified the Makeout Monster uniqueness.

The newest single “Pastel” by Makeout Monster is a perfect entry into his world. The lo-fi sounds paint a picture of a real artist that we can all relate to. The drenched guitar tone drones eloquently letting the listener ease into it. Vocal delivery matches that perfectly as the echo effect washes over everything. You get the feel that you are sitting in a tiny venue with Makeout Monster singing just to you. That connection is intoxicating. We hope to hear more very soon.
