VŌS Release Sultry New Single “Patience”

VŌS

VŌS first came together just over a year ago at a house party jam, and with their influences sat firmly on the electronic and alt-pop spectrum, VŌS describe their new-found sound as “somewhere between Banks, Sohn and James Blake.” This new track, “Patience,” is a really strong slice of electro-pop, mastered by John Davis (Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, Royal Blood) and mixed by Julian Kindred (Ellie Goulding, James Blake).

This track is VŌS’s big debut, and it does not disappoint in the slightest. Each instrument feels chosen for a reason, and the lyrics and vocals nestle into the rhythm perfectly. It may be their first song from VŌS, but the two clearly know what they are doing in the studio.

“Patience” tells the story of a woman hesitant to commit to the man pursuing her. “Just wanna get to know you,” she warns the antagonist from the get-go, refusing to move too quickly into something she’s unsure of. “I know you’re losing patience but give me just a little more time… You’re just like every boy,” she continues over pulsating synths and an erratic beat. Though the song revolves around her indecisiveness and caution, her tone is flirtatious and inviting. It draws you into the will-she-won’t-she story in the same manner she draws her suitor in.

Musically, the song follows an interesting beat that feels fresh and propels the song forward. With ricocheting claps and a unique drum pad, it’s a groove you’ll want to dance to. Sour synths support the sultry and skeptical lyrics, sang with a voice that flows in the higher register and stands out in the lower notes. The bridge opens up into an instrumental moment, with the electric piano at the forefront; it’s a calculated move that seasoned professionals make.

“Patience” is a smart and strong song, and it leaves us wanting and looking forward to more from the group.
