Hemisphere Brings People Together With ‘Unity’

Music has the power to bring people together, and Hemisphere are aiming to bring both music and people together on their new album Unity. Hemisphere playfully plays with different genres, bringing a fusion of rock, pop, and jazz. The band has already received some attention and critical acclaim with their previous works, their anticipated new album Unity is the second in their American Dreams trilogy.

“Rebel Rebel” is a great example of what Hemisphere are doing with their music. This is an uplifting song about someone who does not conform to the norms. Hemisphere are known for using their music as an outlet to voice support for communities by playing San Diego Pride and many community benefits since 1994. Later in the album “The One”, also gives a similarly empowering message in the lighthearted and fun jazz fusion sound Hemisphere are known for.

The band is commendable for really trying to achieve something with their music. It adds an energy to their songs when the lyrics and feeling are imbued with passion. “Bring the Magic Back” is a call for the world to love each other in a time where that is becoming less common.

Hemisphere excels at expressing emotional in their music, “Younger Days” is a great example. This song is an outlet for a bittersweet wistful longing for the past. Fairly simple elements come together but all serve to create the atmosphere on this track with acoustic guitar, keyboard, percussion, accentuated by plenty of backing vocal harmonies.

The jazz fusion sound fits seamlessly into Unity as a project, painting their sound with a broad palette. The instrumentation is varied but is always upbeat as Hemisphere espouses their optimistic view.
